LOCAL MSP RONA MACKAY HAILS THE DIFFERENCE SNP FUNDING HAS MADE FOR APPRENTICES IN EAST DUNBARTONSHIRE

More than 660 apprentices were in training in East Dunbartonshire at the end of last year, new figures have revealed.

The numbers, which are the newest on record, show the difference that SNP improvements have made to Modern Apprentices in East Dunbartonshire, says local MSP Rona Mackay.

The figure is part of 39,589 total Modern Apprenticeships across Scotland at the end of 2024.

The SNP's recently passed Scottish Budget commits £100 million in funding for Modern and Foundation Apprenticeships in 2025-26, expanding opportunities for people from East Dunbartonshire.

Commenting, SNP MSP Ms Mackay said: “I welcome the news that there are 661 apprentices training under the Modern Apprenticeship scheme in East Dunbartonshire.

“Apprenticeships provide outstanding opportunities for our young people to acquire key skills and are a route into high quality careers.

“Under the SNP, we have record numbers of young people securing places on Modern Apprenticeship schemes, and these recent figures show a rise in participants from communities across the country.

“The SNP recognises the importance of apprenticeships, which is why we implemented £100 million for Modern Apprenticeships in the recent Scottish Budget.”

Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2025 took place this month, from March 3-7, with the theme Scotland’s Talent, Scotland’s Strength, celebrating the value and impact of apprenticeships in Scotland.
